As the consciousness of our planet is rising and more people are awakening, many of us feel more than ever, that we have a special purpose on earth. We each have a longing to find a deeper meaning in life. However, rarely is that purpose known to us and even more rarely is it lived, as most of us are still conditioned by culture, religion and society, and seek happiness, success and fulfillment outside of ourselves. But when we become more connected to our Truth and live from our Higher Self, our purpose will be revealed to us in form of intuition- an inner knowing. We then begin to find meaning in every moment and feel empowered to live in the flow of creativity, love, passion, joy, and abundance.
Our purpose is not what we do; it’s not an occupation, a profession or a role. But it is who we choose to be in the world. Then what we do is a manifestation of our purpose- the form it takes through our thoughts, beliefs and intentions.
“The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.” ~ Richard Leider
Here are 5 suggestions for discovering our soul’s purpose:
1. Passion
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” ~ Pablo Picasso
Passion is the path of the heart. Following our passion, in the deepest sense , means following our hearts- knowing what makes us happy and alive from deep within. Understanding our gifts and talents is important, for they are a way in which our purpose is expressed through. However, if we are not deeply rooted in our spiritual truth (understanding who we truly are), our gifts and talents may have no meaning. But, when our gifts and talents are aligned with our heart’s desires and inner values, we discover our soul’s divine purpose and are able to serve others through our unique creative expression.
“Purpose is what gives life a meaning.”~ Charles Perkhurst
2. Self-awareness
In order for our purpose to be lived through us, we must be our True Selves. In essence, our divine purpose is simply to uncover and express who we really are. The more self-aware we are, the more authentic we are in our self-expression, and the more our purpose is revealed and lived through us. Once we learn to move beyond our ego-imposed limitations and find our Truth, our purpose will be revealed to us through our Higher Selves. We must be open and empty of ego to allow Spirit, the divine purpose of the Universe, to unfold through us.
3. Self-love
Our purpose is what we can contribute to the world and it is driven by our Soul’s desire for Love, Oneness, Harmony and Wholeness. It is selfless and beyond our personal needs. However, in order to allow our purpose to be expressed through us and to share it with others, we must take care of ourselves first. Thus, self-love is essential for living our purpose. The more we love and tend to ourselves and fulfill all of our personal and spiritual needs, the more inspired we will be to serve others and to give unconditionally.
4. Meditation
The main key to discovering our divine purpose is the ability to be still, to move beyond mind and ego and to go deep within to find our Truth. Meditation is an essential tool on the path towards self-discovery, as it helps us access the deeper levels of our being and find our inner source of power. It helps us remove the blocks to our full potential and helps us be in tune with our true purpose. As we sit in meditation, we expand our awareness and reach enlightenment, unity, consciousness and total freedom from worldly conditions.
5. Oneness
Our purpose becomes manifested when we follow our passion and use our unique talents to serve humanity, for we each know deep within that we are interconnected- one with all of Life. We know that we are living our divine purpose when we align ourselves with the infinite flow of the Universe and the energy that supports us in the fulfillment of our intentions and desires. And when we feel completely in the flow, we live in harmony with Life in every single moment, honoring the integrity of our spiritual purpose.
“The purpose of life is not to be happy, but to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
The root of our purpose is always love. Every time we consciously choose love in each moment, we contribute to the healing and awakening of the world and raise Love’s energy on earth. With love in our hearts, we feel the call for specific acts of kindness and healing and begin to have a vision for how to best serve our planet and spread Light onto the world.
To be an instrument of Love and to extend kindness and compassion to ourselves and others- that is our soul’s ultimate purpose.
